We offer to analyse environmental effects of transgenes.
The frequencies of gene flow from genetically modified crops to related plants are estimated as well as the survival of transgenic plants in different environments. PCR-based marker systems (presently SSR, ISSR and AFLP) are applied for analysis of gene flow, and survival of transgenic plants is estimated in the field and in highly controlled environments in the phototron "Risø Environmental Risk Assessment Facility". Post commercial monitoring of gene flow and effects in natural populations and the agro-ecosystem is also part of the services performed.
In connection to the environmental tests of genetically modified crops we offer consultancy service, i.e. we design optimal experimental set ups and carry out testing of specific transgenic lines. Part of our services is also drafting of applications and evaluation of existing knowledge for pre-marketing releases of genetically modified plants.
We also offer education within this area of research and testing
