Analysis

Advanced biochemical analyses

Identification of protein by 2D electrophoresis followed by in-gel enzymatic digestion and HPLC-MS/MS analysis.

Brandbjerg - The Ecological Time Machine

The “Research Centre on Biological Effects of Climate Change” – CLIMAITE – is a multidisciplinary national Danish research initiative bringing together 6 research groups to study the biological effects of such climatic changes in terrestrial ecosystems.

Elemental analyses in solid and aqueous samples

Contents of carbon (C), nitrogen (N), oxygen (O) and sulfur (S) are determined in biological tissue, soil and aqueous samples based on “dynamic flash combustion” combined with gas chromatography.

Environmental Radioactivity in Denmark

Concentrations of environmental radioactivity in Denmark (notably radiocaesium and radiostrontium) have been determined regularly by Risø National Laboratory since 1957.

FTIR quantitative measurements

Two Bomem Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) spectrometers are used for qualitative and quantitative analyses: a Bomem MB100 for mid-infrared and an MB155 for both mid- and near-infrared studies.

Impact on the environment of genetic modified plants

We offer to analyse environmental effects of transgenes.

Impacts of global climate change

The earth climate is under change. This has been predicted to be a consequence of increased anthropogenic emissions of CO2, because historical records show that elevated atmospheric CO2 and warmer global temperature have occurred simultaneously. RISØ is involved in several projects investigating the effects of climate change on ecosystem functioning.

InTraCert

A number of countries have committed themselves to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) according to the Kyoto protocol. The European Union has agreed on a common GHG-reduction of 8% by 2008-12 relative to 1990. In the implementation of these (and future) GHG-targets the development of renewable energy resources is expected to play an important role. The present project is especially related to the development of international trade with green certificates (International Tradable Certificates).

Micro-analyses of polymers

Polymers, including biopolymers are characterised either by analytical flash pyrolysis in direct combination with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) or by the use of advanced dynamic mass spectrometry.

Stable isotope analysis

The use of stable isotope techniques to study the sink source relationship of plant nutrients.

Trace gas analyses

Important atmospheric trace gases are constituted by nitrous oxide (N2O) and methane (CH4).
