NEVIC - purpose of project

The long term goal of the project is to establish an independent test centre for EV infrastructure, such that producers of EVs, charging posts and consumers are ensured, that any combination, regardless of design or operator, will work. To achieve this goal, all operators must implement the same standards and roaming capable back-end systems for identification and payment must be developed.

The project is designed to support the development of these standards and to ensure the proper implementation of current standards. Thereby, the final verification of the implementation of standards in the EVs is also achieved.

As basis for NEVIC the existing infrastructure and the knowhow which has been obtained during the EDISON project is used. At Risø DTU an 830kVA supply transformer as well as laboratory facilities with the required capacity to supply several charging posts and fast charging equipment, is already established. In connection with the EDISON project relevant knowledge on communication and system integration has been obtain and is used extensively in the NEVIC project.
