DTU Climate Centre

The DTU Climate Centre at Risø conducts and coordinates interdisciplinary climate-related research including measurement and assessment of climate change, adaptation strategies and mitigation of greenhouse gases. The centre cooperates with leading international and Danish universities and research centres and combines research and application-oriented consultancy offered to authorities and the private sector.

The centre plays a central role for DTU’s climate preparations up to the climate summit in Copenhagen in 2009 and also helps Danish authorities and companies to prepare for the summit.

In the long term (2010 – 20) the centre could play a central role for the implementation of existing and future emission targets, particularly when it comes to introducing new energy technologies and policies. The centre could also contribute to the area of climate adaptation and to the greenhouse gas absorption in ecosystems.

The Climate Centre at Risø opened in the autumn of 2008.
